A substantial detached property in the heart of Northallerton featuring a 2 room cellar with storage corridors. Our client wanted to achieve a dry warm space for a band rehearsal room, essentially a music room.

Barrett Kent opened up a previously sealed off window, lowered the floor levels by 6" and removed ceiling coverings and plaster to the wall. Drainage trenches were cut around the perimeter of the basement, into which drainage channels were placed and linked with a dual submersible pump system. A full electrical and plumbing system was installed with new radiators, electrical sockets and modern lighting.

The basement walls were tanked using cavity drainage membranes and sealed to the floor membrane system - completely waterproofing the basement walls and floor and allowing the water that enters the building to be diverted to the pump system. This keeps the basement completely dry and free from any moisture. A full fit out with new stud walling insulation, plasterboards, doors and windows skirting boards was followed by the finishing decoration.

The client now has a usable warm dry and inviting basement that he uses on a regular basis along with the rest of the family, who also use the basement as an occasional living space, giving the property 2 new usable rooms and adding capital value to the property.
